The English Language
Written by on December 6, 2007 – 4:19 pm -Knowing proper English is essential in the world today since it is basically a universal language that is used widely at all corners of the world. If one does not know English fluently, they can learn about the English Grammar. Unlike other languages, the English language is quite difficult as it holds many exceptions in their grammatical rules.
Learn English - English can be learnt through an ESL (English as a Second Language) program or even through a private tutor. If you take lessons in a class, you will be able to enjoy the company of other new English learning students. Working with others to build your English language skills can be helpful and rewarding. English can also be self taught or improved by tuning into radio stations, watching television shows, movies or even reading English books. There are many books to chose from, from basic easy level children’s books to more complex nobel peace prize books.
Teach English - for those who are fluent in English, you can teach English almost anywhere in the world. First of all, you can teach English locally in elementary or high schools. Teaching these courses are different than grammar lessons because the students are already advanced in the language. English teachers from countries who’s primary language is English tend to teach English literature as opposed to grammar. For those who would like to teach English grammar (or basic English) to non-speaking English students, they can be done so in other countries such as Japan. There are lots of work abroad programs that allows graduates to do so. The requirements to teach English overseas in such programs is just an undergraduate bachelor degree, unlike teaching english in highschool, which requires an undergraduate degree (preferably in English or other related topics) with a teacher’s college degree.
Using proper English - Many people use slangs and grammatical errors when speaking to the general public (via internet chats, blog posts, conversations and so on). However, for those who need to write letters to professionals (or any type of document) it is important to use proper grammar along with polite phrases such as ending your letter with yours sincerely.

The Importance of Resumes
Written by on December 6, 2007 – 4:10 pm -A resume an essential part to getting a job. Even small aspects like the appearance of the resume (formating, organization and such) can make a huge impact on it’s first impression when a potential employer is reading it. With resumes, you need to be able to write down a whole summary of you as a worker, all of your qualifications and how you are suitable and qualified for the job. This is quite difficult to reduce one person to a simple piece of paper, that is why when resume writing, it takes a lot of revisions to perfect it.
To start off, try using a resume builder if you do not know what a regular resume format looks like. There are many templates for you to chose from where you simply need to fill in the blanks with your information.
Writing a curriculum vitae (or CV) during your university studies is also as important for landing those jobs during your schooling at University. As years pass by, you will be working on growing your curriculum vitae, which is crucial to finding that profession once you have completed a degree. First of all, curriculum vitae is essentially a summary of your professional history, achievements and academic history relating to your course. If you are an engineer building up a curriculum vitae, you would include all of your engineering-related internships, work studies, jobs, degrees, etc. Other jobs that are not related in the field are not added to the curriculum vitae because it is not relevant to the employer. Because of this, your “resume” may be reduced in size a lot. It is very important to try to build and grow your CV so that you have a full CV when looking for a profession. One advice would be to take on as many opportunities organized by your department during your studies. It is easier to grab these while you are still a student as opposed to being graduated.
There are also courses available that teach you how to write a resume. It may seem like a waste of time, but resumes are so important as they are what determines whether you get a job or not, or they even lead to the interview process. Resumes are what gets your foot into the door.
