Exercising not only makes you healthy, and being healthy is good for your physical and mental well being, but exercising also releases endorphines, a chemical read by your brain which makes you actually happier. Caffeine Obsessed

Written by on May 22, 2008 – 8:26 pm -

Let’s face it, we are caffeine obsessed. We love the stuff that keeps us up in the mornings, in the evenings or at night (though I don’t suggest drinking it at night unless you really need it). We have chocolate, coffee, coke and other carbonated drinks, tea, etc. Though I never liked coffee when I first started, I got use to the taste, maybe I even like it a bit (it’s an acquired taste I’d say). Let’s look at how much caffeine we are really ingesting.

Coffee ~100-160mg
Tea ~50mg
Pepsi ~50mg
Red Bull ~80mg
7-up 0mg

To name a few…these numbers may not mean anything to you, but look compared to coffee. Tea and Pepsi are about half the amount. Drinking twice as much is just like having a cup of coffee! Be sure to pass up Pepsi or Coke for a non caffeinated variety like Sprite or 7-up.

Healthy Salads?

Written by on May 21, 2008 – 3:00 am -

You may think getting a salad is a healthy option for your meal, but watch out. They could be more fatty than what you replace it with. The salad dressing is actually quite high in calories. And if you are the type to drench your salads in sauce, it may come out to be quite high in calories!

Soy Alternatives

Written by on May 13, 2008 – 6:11 pm -

Soy is a great alternative for meat, as it provides a lot of protein; which you usually obtain from eating meats. Thinking of going veg, or just looking to reduce your meat intake, soy can be a great alternative. And I don’t mean Tofurkey, or ‘meat’ wannabe tofu products. There are plenty of meals made with soy beans, and meant to be soy beans.
