K1 Fiancée Visa

Written by on December 30, 2007 – 2:16 pm -

K1 Visa is a type of Fiancee Visa that gives couples with a US fiancee benefits when it comes to immigrating to the United States of America. They can immigrate easier than others if they fill out a US citizen petition.

An example: Fiancee Visa Philippines : If you have a wife or husband from the Philippines but you are a full American citizen, you can bring your spouse over to the United States of America with the K1 Visa form once it has been officially approved. All forms are sent to the National Passport Center.
The approval time for these forms usually take around six months but it varies from time to time depending on the embassy. If the spouse (that newly immigrated to The United States of America) stays in the country for a set amount of time, he or she can then apply for a permanent American Citizenship.

The purpose for the K1 Fiancée Visa is to not breach any human rights laws allowing American spouses to bring their spouse over to the country (without any barriers separating them from living together). The form was created with a collaboration of the international law, US constitutional law and the Human rights laws. There are some controversy to this form because of people from other countries marrying American citizens just for the ease of immigrating to the country.

There are other forms such as the K2 visa form which is for children that have parents or a parent that has an American citizenship.
